The God who sustained you in the battle will sustain you in the waiting. The God who has been faithful throughout Scripture will be faithful to you.

Blessed Is the One Who Places Their Hope in God

by Torrie Slaughter

"Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God." — Psalm 146:5

Psalm 146 ends the week with a powerful invitation: place your hope where it belongs.

Throughout life, we are tempted to place our confidence in people, positions, resources, plans, and circumstances. While these things may be helpful, none of them can bear the weight of our ultimate trust.

People disappoint.
Resources diminish.
Plans change.
Circumstances shift.

But God remains faithful.

The psalmist reminds us that the Lord is the Creator of heaven and earth, the Keeper of truth, the Defender of the oppressed, the Provider for those in need, and the One who reigns forever.

What a fitting conclusion to our journey through "Faith: Beyond What You Can See."

Faith is not believing that every circumstance will unfold exactly as we desire. Faith is believing that God remains trustworthy regardless of how circumstances unfold.

That is why biblical hope is different from wishful thinking.

Hope is not optimism.
Hope is confidence in God's character.

When we place our hope in God, we anchor our hearts to something eternal rather than temporary.

Jehovah Nissi stands as our Banner not only in moments of victory but also in seasons of uncertainty. His presence reminds us that our confidence does not rest in what we can see. It rests in the One who sees the end from the beginning.

As you enter a new week, carry this truth with you:

The God who guided you yesterday will guide you tomorrow.
The God who sustained you in the battle will sustain you in the waiting.
The God who has been faithful throughout Scripture will be faithful to you.

Blessed is the one whose hope is in the Lord.

Reflection

Where have you been tempted to place your hope in something other than God?

Prayer

Lord, I place my hope in You. Thank You for being my help, my strength, and my Banner. Teach me to trust You more deeply and to build my life upon Your unchanging faithfulness. As I enter a new week, let my confidence remain anchored in You. Amen.
