Day 113 Don't Forget What Sustains You
When we drift from God—not necessarily in rebellion, but in distraction—we begin to feel the absence of what once grounded us. Not because God moved, but because we did.

Don’t Forget What Sustains You
by Torrie Slaughter
Peace doesn’t just disappear—it fades when we forget where it comes from.
Psalm 90 reminds us of something foundational: “Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.” Before routines, before responsibilities, before distractions—God was the place of refuge.
But something shifts when we move into Judges.
A new generation arises… and they do not know the Lord.
They didn’t lose access to God.
They lost remembrance.
Psalm 91 then brings us back to what was always available: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” This is not a one-time visit—it’s a lifestyle.
Peace is sustained through proximity.
When we drift from God—not necessarily in rebellion, but in distraction—we begin to feel the absence of what once grounded us. Not because God moved, but because we did.
This is the quiet danger.
You can still be functioning, still be moving, still be doing life… and yet be disconnected from the very presence that sustains you.
So today is an invitation—not to strive, but to return.
Return to the secret place.
Return to intentional time with God.
Return to the awareness that He is your covering, your refuge, your peace.
Because what you dwell in… shapes what you carry.
🙏🏽 Prayer
Lord, You are my dwelling place. Forgive me for the moments where I have drifted or become distracted. Draw me back into Your presence and teach me how to remain there. Let Your peace cover me as I stay close to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
