Come In Right—Worship Is More Than a Sound
by Torrie Slaughter
Psalm 100 feels like a celebration—but it’s also instruction.
“Make a joyful noise… serve the Lord with gladness… come before His presence with singing.”
It sounds like an invitation to worship—and it is.
But it’s also a blueprint for how to approach God.
Notice the progression:
Make a joyful noise → outward expression
Serve with gladness → inward posture
Come before Him → intentional movement
Enter His gates with thanksgiving → prepared heart
This isn’t random praise—it’s intentional access.
Because you can show up physically… and still not be present spiritually.
You can sing the song, say the words, even lift your hands…
but if your heart is distracted, resistant, or ungrateful—you’ve entered the space, not His presence.
Psalm 100 reminds us of something simple but foundational:
“Know that the Lord, He is God.”
That word “know” means to recognize, acknowledge, and submit.
Before the praise. Before the singing. Before the gratitude.
There must be recognition of who God is.
And here’s the beautiful part:
“It is He who made us, and we are His.”
You don’t worship to earn belonging.
You worship because you already belong.
That changes everything.
Gratitude becomes natural.
Praise becomes sincere.
Worship becomes personal.
So today, don’t just show up—come in right.
Come with awareness.
Come with gratitude.
Come ready to encounter—not just observe.
Because God’s presence isn’t something you stumble into…
it’s something you honor your way into.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that I belong to You. Help me approach You with a heart of gratitude, reverence, and sincerity. Teach me to worship You in spirit and truth, not just in routine. Amen.
