Integrity Isn’t Public—It’s Proven in Private
by Torrie Slaughter
Psalm 101 reads like a personal declaration—David setting the standard for how he will live, lead, and govern his life.
“I will walk with integrity of heart within my house.”
That line is easy to read… but hard to live.
Because integrity is tested where no one sees.
It’s not about what you post, what you say publicly, or how you perform when others are watching.
It’s about your private decisions, quiet compromises, and internal conversations.
David makes a series of commitments:
He will walk blamelessly
He will reject perverse things
He will not tolerate deceit
He will silence slander
This isn’t legalism—it’s alignment.
David understands something many miss:
What you allow privately will eventually influence you publicly.
We often want God to elevate us, expand us, and entrust us with more…
but ignore the small areas where compromise has quietly taken root.
Psalm 101 is a heart check for leadership—but not just leadership in position.
Leadership of your thoughts.
Leadership of your words.
Leadership of your environment.
Because before you lead others…
you must be led by God.
And before God trusts you with influence…
He looks for integrity.
So today, ask yourself honestly:
Who are you when no one is watching?
What are you allowing that God has already addressed?
Because transformation doesn’t start on the platform—
it starts in the private places where God is still speaking.
Prayer
Lord, examine my heart and strengthen my integrity. Help me to live in a way that honors You both publicly and privately. Remove anything in me that does not align with Your truth. Amen.
