Wednesday, May 13, 2026 – Psalm 109
Praying Through the Pressure
by Torrie Slaughter
Psalm 109 is not polished.
It is honest.
David is dealing with betrayal, opposition, and emotional exhaustion. This is not the “blessed and highly favored” version of prayer. This is the “Lord, if You don’t help me, I might start replying to people” version.
And that honesty matters.
Too many believers think spiritual maturity means pretending everything is fine. But healing begins when truth enters the room.
David brings the pain to God instead of allowing bitterness to become his identity.
That is wisdom.
Some battles are not won by pretending they do not hurt. They are won by refusing to let hurt become your ruler.
Pressure reveals what is unresolved.
And unresolved pain often becomes misplaced anger.
God is not asking for performance. He is asking for honesty.
Prayer is where healing interrupts bitterness.
Reflection:
Are you processing pain with God or performing strength for people?
Prayer:
Lord, I bring You my frustration, disappointment, and hidden wounds. I refuse to let bitterness lead me. Heal what hurt has tried to harden. Teach me how to pray instead of react. I trust You with what I cannot explain. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Action Step:
Pray honestly today—without editing your emotions for presentation.
