Thursday, May 14, 2026 – Psalm 110
Stop Protecting What God Rejected
by Torrie Slaughter
This Psalm reminds us that God’s authority is final.
David prophetically points to the Messiah, the One who reigns, rules, and brings order where rebellion once stood.
And that confronts us.
Because many people want God’s blessing while defending the very thing He told them to release.
Saul spared what God told him to destroy. He tried to preserve what should have been surrendered.
How often do we do the same?
We protect habits.
We excuse attitudes.
We justify relationships.
We keep emotional agreements with old wounds Then we ask God for fresh oil.
Friend… God does not anoint disobedience.
Healing requires honesty.
Sometimes the breakthrough prayer is simply:
“Lord, I finally let it go.”
That prayer can change everything.
Reflection:
What are you still protecting that God has already asked you to release?
Prayer:
Father, search my heart and show me where I have been protecting what You rejected. I surrender pride, fear, old wounds, and hidden compromise. I do not want partial obedience. I want a clean heart and fresh oil. In Jesus’ name, amen. Then we ask God for fresh oil.
Action Step:
Name the thing. Stop avoiding it. Surrender it.
