Day 140 Let All the Nations Praise: A Heart Bigger Than Revenge
Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter in the entire Bible—but don’t let its length fool you. It is global, eternal, and radically inclusive. This is not just a nice verse for your morning routine. It’s a holy call to action.

Let All the Nations Praise: A Heart Bigger Than Revenge
by Torrie Slaughter
Psalm 117:1–2
"Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is His love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord."
What if I told you that in just two verses, God delivers a message that spans generations, breaks cultural boundaries, and unites every nation under one banner of love? Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter in the entire Bible—but don’t let its length fool you. It is global, eternal, and radically inclusive.
This is not just a nice verse for your morning routine. It’s a holy call to action.
🌎 A Universal Invitation
“Praise the Lord, all you nations…”
The psalmist is essentially blowing a trumpet from the highest place on earth, shouting, “Everyone, everywhere—worship the Lord!”
This call isn’t just for Israel. It’s not reserved for a select group. This is a global command to worship the one true God. Why? Because His love is that wide, that deep, and that available.
And in the narrative arc of the Bible, we’re standing right in the middle of that invitation. David’s restraint in 1 Samuel 26 reminds us that love and worship aren’t isolated acts—they flow from a heart aligned with God’s ways. He could have taken vengeance… but he chose restraint. And here we are, learning to praise the God who gives us the grace to do the same.
💖 The Why Behind the Worship
“For great is His love toward us…”
That word “love” in Hebrew? Chesed. It’s steadfast. It doesn’t flinch in our failure. It doesn’t crack under pressure. It is covenantal, committed, and eternal. And then there’s faithfulness—God’s unshakeable reliability.
Let this truth settle deep: God’s love and faithfulness are not based on your performance but His promise.
🙌 A Heart Response
So what do we do?
We praise.
We don’t just sit in awe—we respond. We worship because He is love. Because His faithfulness is the backbone of our hope. Because the same God who held David steady in the wilderness and raised Lazarus from the dead is holding you today.
🛎️ Reflection Question:
How can your praise today reflect a heart that understands God’s love isn’t just for you—but for the whole world?
🙏 Prayer:
Lord, You are worthy of praise from every corner of the earth. Thank You for Your steadfast love and enduring faithfulness. Let my worship today reflect not only what You’ve done for me, but who You are for all. May I carry the banner of Your love boldly and joyfully. Amen.
