Tuesday, May 26, 2026- Psalm 119:49–64

Held Together by the Word

by Torrie Slaughter

The psalmist writes from a place of tension. He speaks of affliction, mockery, sleepless nights, and pressure—yet he continually returns to the comfort of God’s Word. That is the mark of spiritual maturity: not the absence of struggle, but the decision to remain rooted while life feels unstable.

Transitions often reveal what we rely on most. Some people reach for distractions, old habits, unhealthy comforts, or emotional escape when pressure rises. But the psalmist reaches for remembrance. He intentionally recalls the promises of God.

This portion of Psalm 119 reminds us that God’s Word is not simply information for study—it is stability for the soul. When emotions fluctuate and circumstances shift unexpectedly, truth becomes an anchor.

Abiding in God is not a one-time decision. It is a daily returning.

Prayer: Father, when pressure rises and emotions become overwhelming, anchor me in Your truth. Help me reach for Your presence instead of temporary comfort. Amen.
