Thursday, May 28, 2026- Psalm 119:81–96

When the Soul Feels Weary

by Torrie Slaughter

There are moments in life when faithfulness feels exhausting. The psalmist speaks openly about weariness, longing, waiting, and feeling overwhelmed. Yet even in the middle of emotional fatigue, he continues reaching toward God rather than withdrawing from Him.

Many people silently carry pain while continuing to function outwardly. They attend church, fulfill responsibilities, smile in conversations, and keep moving forward while internally feeling depleted. But God does not ignore hidden weariness.

One of the enemy’s greatest strategies is convincing believers that exhaustion means abandonment. Yet Psalm 119 reveals something different: weary people can still remain deeply connected to God.

The psalmist survives by clinging to the faithfulness of God rather than the strength of his emotions.

Prayer

Father, meet me in the places where my soul feels tired and overwhelmed. Remind me that Your presence is steady even when my emotions are not. Amen.

Action Step

Give yourself permission to be honest with God today instead of pretending to be emotionally strong.
