Undivided Loyalty

by Torrie Slaughter

The psalmist draws a clear line between double-mindedness and wholehearted devotion. In a world filled with distractions, compromise, and competing voices, he chooses to cling closely to God’s truth.

Summer often brings changes in rhythm, priorities, and routines. While rest is healthy, spiritual drift can quietly begin when consistency with God weakens. This passage serves as a reminder that devotion is built intentionally.

The psalmist treasures God’s commands not because rules are restrictive, but because truth protects the heart from deception. He understands that loving God requires more than emotional passion—it requires daily surrender.

An anchored life is built through repeated choices to remain near God even when distractions multiply.

Prayer

Father, guard my heart from becoming divided by distractions, compromise, or spiritual inconsistency. Strengthen my desire to remain close to You. Amen.

Action Step

Identify one distraction that consistently pulls your attention away from God and intentionally set a boundary around it this week.
