When God Restores What Was Lost

Psalm 126 captures the feeling of a dream coming true. Israel had experienced exile, loss, and disappointment, yet God brought them home. The people could hardly believe what He had done.

"When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream." (Psalm 126:1)

Many of us know what it feels like to lose something. Sometimes it is a relationship. Sometimes it is confidence. Sometimes it is a season where we felt close to God but now wonder where that joy has gone.

The beautiful truth of this psalm is that restoration is not something we manufacture. It is something God accomplishes.

As we begin this week reflecting on building what Heaven can defend, we are reminded that God often restores before He rebuilds. A wise builder first clears away what has been broken before laying a new foundation.

The psalmist acknowledges that the journey was not easy.

"Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy." (Psalm 126:5)

Faith does not deny the tears. Faith trusts that God can use them to produce a harvest.

Perhaps there are prayers you have carried for years that seem buried beneath disappointment. Do not mistake the season of sowing for the end of the story. Under the banner of Jehovah Nissi, even your tears are not wasted.

God is still restoring hearts.
He is still rebuilding lives.
And He is still able to do what seems impossible.

What area of your life is God inviting you to trust Him to restore?

Prayer

Father, thank You that nothing is beyond Your ability to restore. Help me trust that even the tears I have sown are producing a harvest in Your perfect time. Build my life upon Your faithfulness. Amen.
