Faith That Worships in the Waiting

by Torrie Slaughter

"Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You." — Psalm 143:8

David writes Psalm 143 from a place of weakness. He feels overwhelmed, pursued, and exhausted. Yet he refuses to allow his emotions to become his master.

Instead, he deliberately remembers God's faithfulness.

This is one of the great lessons of spiritual maturity: faith does not deny pain, but neither does it surrender to it.

Paul and Silas demonstrate this beautifully in Acts 16. Beaten, imprisoned, and chained, they begin worshiping at midnight. They did not praise because the prison doors were open. They praised because God was still worthy before the doors opened.

Many people are willing to worship after the breakthrough.

Faith learns to worship before it.

Jehovah Nissi reminds us that God's banner still flies over our lives even when the battle has not ended. His presence remains. His promises remain. His faithfulness remains.

Worship becomes the declaration that God is still greater than what we are facing.

Reflection

What would change if you chose worship before the answer arrives?

Prayer

Father, teach me to worship while I wait. Let my trust be rooted in Your faithfulness rather than my circumstances. Amen.
