Eyes on the Lord: Trusting God to Guide and Deliver

by Torrie Slaughter

Psalm 25

Psalm 25 is David’s heartfelt prayer of trust, surrender, and hope. It reminds us that God is not only our Savior but also our Teacher, Guide, and Deliverer. As we read these verses, we’re invited to bring our own fears, failures, and questions before the Lord—and leave them in His capable hands.

Let’s explore how this psalm calls us to live with open hands and eyes fixed on Him.

❤️ A Heart of Trust (Psalm 25:1-3)

"In you, Lord my God, I put my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me."

This is no casual statement—David is placing his entire life into God’s hands. In a world full of shifting loyalties and misplaced confidence, this kind of trust stands out.

Where have you been tempted to put your trust—your plans, people, or even yourself—rather than fully trusting the Lord?

🛤️ Seeking God’s Guidance (Psalm 25:4-5)

"Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."

David’s humility shines here. He knows he doesn’t have all the answers and asks God to teach and guide him.

How often do we pause to seek God’s direction before making decisions? Today is an invitation to slow down and ask Him to lead.

🙏🏽 Remembering God’s Mercy and Love (Psalm 25:6-7)

"Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love... Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways."

David doesn’t hide his past mistakes. Instead, he appeals to God’s mercy and steadfast love.

This reminds us that no failure is too great for God’s forgiveness. You can bring your regrets to Him and find mercy every single time.

✨ Trusting in God’s Faithfulness (Psalm 25:8-10)

"Good and upright is the Lord... He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way."

God is both good and faithful. He promises to lead those who are humble and willing to follow His ways.

Humility unlocks the guidance we crave. Are you open to learning from Him, even if the path isn’t what you expected?

🕊️ A Cry for Deliverance and Integrity (Psalm 25:11-15)

"My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare."

David’s prayer ends with his eyes fixed firmly on God. This is where our confidence comes from—not in our ability to avoid life’s snares, but in God’s power to deliver us from them.

Where do you need to lift your eyes off the problem and fix them on the Lord today?

🙏🏽 Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being our Savior, our Teacher, and our Deliverer. We confess our sins and bring our worries before You, trusting in Your mercy and love. Teach us to walk in humility and integrity as we keep our eyes fixed on You. Release us from every snare and guide us in Your truth. May our lives be living testimonies of Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
