Reading: Psalm 67
Psalm 67 opens with a powerful prayer: “May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us.” (v.1). To have God’s face shine on you is to live in the warmth of His presence—His favor, His delight, His love guiding your steps.
But this psalm quickly reminds us that blessing is never just about us. Verse 2 says, “so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.” God blesses us so that His goodness can flow outward, touching lives and pointing the world back to Him.
The psalmist envisions a day when “the nations be glad and sing for joy” (v.4). Can you picture it? Every tribe and tongue celebrating the just and righteous rule of God. This is what His blessing is meant to accomplish—a global harvest of worship.
Even the image of the land yielding its harvest (v.6) is more than crops. It points to the fruit God produces in our lives—love, joy, peace, and every blessing that becomes a testimony of His goodness. The more we yield, the more His glory shines.
Psalm 67 calls us to lift our eyes higher: to see blessing not as the end, but as the beginning of mission. We are blessed to be a blessing.
Closing Prayer
Lord, let Your face shine on me, not just for my sake but so others may know Your salvation. Use my life as a reflection of Your goodness, and let every blessing You pour out become an invitation for the world to worship You. Amen.
