Psalm 78:56-72
“They put God to the test and rebelled against the Most High; they did not keep His statutes” (v.56). Psalm 78 ends with a painful picture: God’s people turned from Him, and His presence at Shiloh was withdrawn. When holy things were treated as common, the ark itself was given into enemy hands.
But even in judgment, God’s story didn’t end there. He chose Judah, loved Mount Zion, and raised up a new shepherd—David. David led with integrity of heart and skillful hands, pointing us to the greater Shepherd-King, Jesus.
Here’s the hope: when rebellion broke the covenant, God’s love remained unbroken. He didn’t abandon His people forever—He gave them a King who would one day be fulfilled in Christ, the true Shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep.
So today we ask: who is sitting on the throne of my heart? When we enthrone Jesus as our King, rebellion loses its grip, and hope rises again.
Endurance in truth means this—choosing the Shepherd-King daily, trusting His hands to lead us where our wandering hearts cannot.
