Reading: Psalm 86

“Hear me, Lord, for I am poor and needy.”

David doesn’t hide behind spiritual pride or polished words. He comes undone before God, admitting his limits. And in that honesty lies the power of this psalm. God never asked us to carry everything alone—He asked us to come.

David’s strength isn’t found in his resolve; it’s in his relationship.

“You are my God; have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to You all day long.”

This is the heart of endurance—trusting when the world tells you to toughen up. David reminds us that real strength isn’t pretending we’re okay; it’s knowing where to run when we’re not.

Then, amid his exhaustion, a shift:

“You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to You.”

That’s the turning point. The prayer that began with weakness ends with worship. When we let down our guard before God, we discover His goodness rushing in to hold us up.

Reflection:
You don’t have to hold it all together for God to hold you.

Prayer:
Lord, I’m tired of trying to be strong. Teach me to rest in Your mercy instead of striving in my might. Remind me that Your love is my defense and Your grace my renewal. Hear my cry today—and in Your kindness, answer me again. Amen.
