📖 Reading Focus: Psalm 94
“The Lord is a God who avenges. O God who avenges, shine forth!” — Psalm 94:1
Psalm 94 is a cry from the weary but faithful heart—a prayer for justice in a world that seems to reward wickedness. The psalmist doesn’t lash out in bitterness; instead, he lifts his voice to the Righteous Judge. That’s what obedience looks like when it’s not popular—trusting God to defend truth when you could easily take matters into your own hands.
The wicked speak boldly, acting as if God neither sees nor cares. But the psalmist counters their arrogance with wisdom: “Does He who formed the ear not hear? Does He who formed the eye not see?” Our God is not indifferent—He is deeply aware. Every injustice, every tear, every faithful act that goes unnoticed by the world is seen by Him.
And then, tucked within this psalm of justice, comes a tender truth: “Blessed is the one You discipline, Lord, the one You teach from Your law.” God doesn’t just confront the wicked—He corrects the righteous. Obedience sometimes means submitting to His discipline, letting His Word reshape our hearts while we wait for His justice to unfold.
By the end, the psalmist finds peace not in revenge but in refuge: “The Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.” When the noise of injustice grows loud, we find strength in His unchanging righteousness.
God doesn’t need our outrage; He desires our obedience. When the world celebrates compromise, we stand firm in truth. When others seek control, we rest in the One who reigns.
🕊️ Prayer:
Righteous Judge, thank You for seeing what others overlook. Teach me to trust Your justice and remain obedient even when it’s unpopular. Be my fortress when I am weary and my confidence when I stand for truth. Amen.
