Psalm 105 : 16 – 36

Have you ever realized that God’s mercy sometimes comes wrapped in mystery?
Psalm 105:16-36 reminds us that the famine, the betrayal, and the prison cell weren’t accidents—they were divine assignments. “He called for a famine on the land and destroyed all the supply of bread; He sent a man before them—Joseph.” (vv. 16-17)

Joseph’s journey was proof that God’s plan can include pain without losing purpose. Verse 19 says, “The word of the Lord tested him.” That’s where mercy matures us—when God’s Word becomes both our test and our training. Each trial Joseph endured refined his faith until he could handle the promotion God had prepared.

When life feels unfair or confusing, remember: testing doesn’t mean abandonment. It’s preparation. The same God who allowed Joseph’s hardship also orchestrated his release. And when Joseph rose to power, it wasn’t just for his benefit—it was to preserve God’s covenant people. That’s how mercy works: what feels personal becomes generational.

So if you’re in a season that doesn’t make sense, hold on. God’s promises are still active, His Word is still true, and His providence is working behind every locked door. Let your waiting become worship, and your testing become testimony.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for maturing me through mercy. When Your Word tests me, help me to trust that You are refining my faith, not rejecting me. Strengthen my heart to wait well and believe that Your timing is perfect. In Jesus’ name, amen.

📖 Reflection

What “test” are you facing that could be the training ground for your next assignment? Write it down and ask God to show you how His mercy is at work within it.
