Psalm 31:19–24

Stored-Up Goodness

by Torrie Slaughter

There’s a quiet reassurance tucked into Psalm 31 that many of us miss—we don’t have to see God’s provision to trust that it exists.

David writes about goodness stored up for those who fear the Lord. Not rushed. Not improvised. Stored. That means before the prayer was prayed, before the need was felt, before the pressure mounted—God had already made provision.

So often we assume God responds after we reach our limit. But Scripture tells a different story. Jehovah Jireh doesn’t scramble when we struggle. He prepares.

This Psalm reminds us that trust isn’t built when everything is calm—it’s revealed when fear tries to speak louder than faith. David doesn’t deny trouble. He simply refuses to let trouble define God’s character.

Today’s Reflection:
Where might God already have provision waiting that you’re worrying yourself into missing?

Action Step:
Pause before reacting today. Say aloud, “Lord, I trust that You’ve already provided.”
