The Security of the Righteous
by Torrie Slaughter
📖 "The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand." — Psalm 37:23-24
This portion of Scripture (Psalm 37:12-29) offers us profound insights into the character of God and the ways in which we can find peace and security in His presence.
Verse 12 reminds us of the fleeting nature of the wicked's schemes. Though they may plot and scheme to bring harm, their efforts will ultimately be thwarted by the hand of God. This verse serves as a powerful reminder that, no matter how dire our circumstances may seem, we can take refuge in the knowledge that God is sovereign and just.
In verses 16-17, we are presented with a beautiful contrast between the fate of the righteous and the wicked. While the wicked may accumulate wealth and power in this world, it is the righteous who ultimately inherit eternal blessings from the Lord. This truth challenges us to reevaluate our priorities and to seek first the kingdom of God, knowing that He will provide for all our needs.
Take Away
This Psalm reminds us that God upholds those who follow Him. Even when life is uncertain, we have:
Security: "The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care." (v.18)
Provision: "In times of disaster, they will not wither." (v.19)
Guidance: "The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him." (v.23)
Yes, we may stumble, but God never lets us fall beyond His grace. His hand is always there to lift us up.
Are you walking confidently in God’s security, or are you letting fear hold you back?
