— Psalm 38

For The One Who Feels the Weight of It All

by Torrie Slaughter

Some pain isn’t loud.
It sits heavy.

Regret.
Consequences.
Exhaustion.
Loneliness that words can’t quite describe.

David writes this Psalm from that place — not hiding, not pretending, not performing strength.

Just honest before God.

You may recognize yourself here.

Carrying things you don’t even know how to explain.
Feeling drained in body, mind, and spirit.

And yet David still does one brave thing:

He turns toward God, not away.

If today feels heavy, let your prayer be simple:

“Lord, I am overwhelmed, but I am still turning toward You.”

You don’t have to solve everything today.
You don’t have to understand everything.

Just don’t withdraw.

God is not repelled by your weakness.
He moves closer to it.

Stay here quietly.
Let Him sit with you.
