Waiting on the Lord

by Torrie Slaughter

"I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry."Psalm 40:1

Waiting is hard. In a world of instant gratification, patience feels like a struggle. Yet David reminds us in Psalm 40 that waiting on the Lord is not wasted time—it is where transformation happens.

🔹 God hears you. David cried out, and God inclined His ear. You are never ignored or forgotten by the One who loves you most.

🔹 God rescues you. "He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." (Psalm 40:2) No matter how deep the pit of despair, sin, or struggle, God is mighty to save.

🔹 God gives you a new song. When God brings deliverance, He doesn’t just restore; He renews! "He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God." (Psalm 40:3) Your testimony of waiting and trusting God will inspire others to put their faith in Him.

David reminds us that God desires obedience over empty rituals (Psalm 40:6-8). He wants hearts that trust Him more than mere actions. Jesus fulfilled this completely, becoming the perfect sacrifice so we could live in freedom and faith.

🔥 Reflection: What are you waiting on God for today? Instead of worrying, worship. Instead of doubting, declare His faithfulness. Trust that in His perfect timing, He will lift you up!
