📖 March 19 — Psalm 62
When God Alone Becomes Your Security
by Torrie Slaughter
Psalm 62 carries a tone of quiet confidence. After many battles and challenges throughout his life, David speaks with a calm certainty that only experience with God can produce.
“For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.” (Psalm 62:1, ESV)
The phrase “God alone” appears repeatedly throughout this psalm. David has learned something important: true security cannot be found in circumstances, wealth, influence, or human approval. All of those things shift over time.
But God remains constant.
“He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.” (Psalm 62:2, ESV)
Notice the difference between this psalm and earlier cries of distress. David is not denying that difficulties exist. Instead, he is declaring that his stability does not depend on those circumstances.
The foundation of his life is the Lord.
“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him.” (Psalm 62:8, ESV)
David invites others to share in this confidence. Trusting God is not reserved for a few strong believers. Every person is invited to pour out their heart before the Lord and find safety in Him.
“Power belongs to God, and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love.” (Psalm 62:11–12, ESV)
These final verses remind us that God holds both power and love together perfectly. His strength protects His people, and His steadfast love sustains them.
As you pray through Psalm 62 today, allow your heart to settle in the quiet confidence that David describes. When life feels uncertain, remember that God alone is the rock that never shifts.
Trust Him fully.
