When You Feel Small but Still Called

by Torrie Slaughter

Psalm 8 shifts our gaze upward. David looks at the vastness of creation and asks a bold question: Why would God care about humanity at all? This psalm reminds us that our value is not diminished by our smallness.

The word “mindful” (Hebrew: zakar) means to remember with action. God’s awareness of us is not sentimental—it is purposeful. He remembers us in ways that move heaven and earth.

Many struggle with feeling insignificant, especially when life feels overwhelming. Psalm 8 heals distorted identity by reminding us that being small does not mean being overlooked.

Prayer:
Jehovah Rophe, You are mindful of me. Heal every lie that has told me I don’t matter or that my life is too small to be significant. Restore my understanding of who I am in Your creation. I praise You for crowning humanity with honor and purpose. Amen.
