The God Who Moves on Your Behalf

by Torrie Slaughter

Psalm 68 opens with a powerful declaration of God’s authority. He is not passive—He moves, He leads, and He establishes His presence among His people.

“God shall arise, his enemies shall be scattered; and those who hate him shall flee before him!” (Psalm 68:1, ESV)

This is not a call for us to fight harder. It is a reminder of who God is. When He moves, opposition cannot stand.

“Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.” (Psalm 68:5, ESV)

His power is not distant or detached. It is deeply personal. God’s strength is expressed through His care—He defends, restores, and provides for those who are vulnerable.

“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.” (Psalm 68:19, ESV)*

There is a daily rhythm to God’s support. He does not strengthen us once and leave us to sustain ourselves. He carries us continually.

“You ascended on high, leading a host of captives in your train.” (Psalm 68:18, ESV)

This verse points beyond David’s experience. It foreshadows the victory of Christ—one who not only overcomes but leads others into freedom.

As you reflect on Psalm 68 today, remember that God is both powerful and present. He is not only able to move on your behalf—He is already at work.

Reflection Question:
Where do you need to trust God’s authority instead of relying on your own strength?
