Blessed Be the Lord – Our Daily Load Bearer

By Torrie Slaughter

“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burdens, the God of our salvation.”
Psalm 68:19 (ESV)

Today, as we journey through Psalm 68:19–35, we are reminded of one of the most comforting truths in all of Scripture: God carries us—every single day.

He’s not a weekly check-in kind of God.
He’s not waiting for the next dramatic crisis to step in.
He is present in the mundane. The quiet. The unseen.
He bears the weight of our hearts, our hopes, and even our unspoken worries.

This Psalm bursts with triumphant praise for a mighty, faithful God—One who is not only the rescuer of His people but also their daily sustainer. The psalmist opens this section with a declaration that should echo in every believer’s soul:

“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.” (Psalm 68:19, NIV)

God doesn’t just save us once—He sustains us constantly.
He carries what’s too heavy for us to hold and empowers us to keep walking when we feel like giving up.

💪 The God Who Strengthens and Saves
“Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.”
Psalm 68:20 (NIV)

In this verse, we find the redemptive heart of our Savior. Not only does He walk with us through life’s burdens—He also delivers us from the grip of death, despair, and destruction.

And then the psalm closes with this beautiful truth:

“The God of Israel gives power and strength to His people.” (Psalm 68:35, NIV)

The same God who carries your burdens is also the One empowering you to rise.
To keep moving.
To stand strong.
To walk boldly in purpose and peace.

🛑 Take a Pause. Reflect:
  • What burdens are you still trying to carry on your own?

  • Are you giving God your daily concerns—or only the “emergency” ones?

  • Have you forgotten that He wants to walk with you, not just rescue you?

🙏 Prayer:

Lord, thank You for bearing my load today.
I release the stress, the worry, and the weight I wasn’t meant to carry.
Help me to trust You not just as my Savior—but as my Sustainer.
Fill me with the strength and peace that only You can give.
Let me walk today with praise on my lips, knowing I am held securely in Your hands.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
