When God Makes Himself Known

by Torrie Slaughter

Psalm 76 is another Psalm of Asaph, and it carries a tone of awe and reverence. It reflects a moment when God’s power was unmistakable—when He intervened and made His presence known.

“In Judah, God is known; His name is great in Israel” (v. 1).

This Psalm likely points to a time when God delivered His people from a powerful enemy, demonstrating that no force on earth can stand against Him.

What This Psalm Reveals

Psalm 76 highlights God’s authority in a way that silences all opposition:

  • God makes Himself known through His actions (v. 1–3)

  • He breaks the power of the enemy (v. 3)

  • He alone is to be feared and honored (v. 7)

  • His judgment brings both justice and peace (v. 8–9)

There are moments when God does not need explanation—He reveals Himself through what He does.

A Moment to Reflect

Have you ever had a moment where you could not deny that God moved?

A situation that shifted…
An outcome that didn’t make sense…
A door that opened or closed at just the right time…

Psalm 76 reminds you:

God is not hidden.
He reveals Himself—sometimes suddenly, sometimes unmistakably.
