Friday, July 3- Psalm 1
He Calls You Back to His Word
by Torrie Slaughter
Key Verse:
"His delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night." — Psalm 1:2
After ending the previous psalm with every living thing praising God, the book immediately asks an important question:
What kind of life grows in God's presence?
Psalm 1 gives the answer.
The blessed person doesn't simply read God's Word occasionally. They delight in it. They return to it. They allow it to shape their thinking, direct their decisions, and strengthen their faith.
The result is a life like a tree planted beside streams of water—steady through changing seasons, nourished by a constant source, and fruitful because its roots run deep.
Many people search for stability in circumstances, relationships, accomplishments, or possessions. Scripture points us somewhere better. True stability is found in a life rooted in God's truth.
As we conclude this week's journey, remember that God's invitation is not merely to finish another reading plan. It is to build a relationship with Him that grows deeper each day through His Word.
The closer we remain to Christ, the stronger our roots become.
Reflection
What practical step can you take today to become more deeply rooted in God's Word rather than merely informed by it?
Prayer
Father, plant my life firmly in Your truth. Give me a hunger for Your Word that grows stronger each day. Let Scripture shape my thoughts, my decisions, and my character so that my life bears fruit for Your glory. Keep me rooted in Christ, steady through every season, and faithful until the day I see You face to face. In Jesus' name, Amen.
