Scripture Reading: Psalm 90:1–91:16

Key Verse:
“Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.” — Psalm 90:1 (ESV)

Where Have You Made Your Home?

We often think of home as a place of safety, familiarity, and belonging. Somewhere we can rest when the demands of life become overwhelming.

But what happens when the places or circumstances that once made us feel secure begin to change?

Psalm 90, a prayer of Moses, begins with a remarkable declaration: God Himself has been the dwelling place of His people throughout every generation.

Before the mountains existed, before the earth was formed, God was already God.

Moses contrasts the brevity of human life with the eternal nature of the Lord. Our days are numbered, our circumstances are temporary, and even our greatest accomplishments cannot escape the passing of time.

Yet El Olam, the Everlasting God, remains.

Psalm 91 continues this beautiful picture by describing the refuge found in dwelling in the shelter of the Most High.

Notice that both Psalms direct our attention toward where we place our confidence rather than what we can control.

God's protection does not mean His people will never experience trouble. In fact, Psalm 91:15 speaks of God's presence in trouble.

What an important distinction!

Our security is not found in a life without difficulty but in belonging to the God who remains faithful through it.

Perhaps the invitation today is not to find another way to control your circumstances but to examine where you have been seeking your security.

The Everlasting God has never needed the stability of this world to remain our dwelling place.

Today's Reflection Question

What temporary source of security have you been relying on that may be competing with your confidence in God as your dwelling place?

Today's Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my dwelling place throughout every season. Forgive me when I seek lasting security in temporary things. Teach me to number my days with wisdom, rest in Your presence, and trust Your faithfulness even when circumstances change. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today's Purposeful Practice

Read Psalm 90:1–2 and Psalm 91:1–2 again. Identify one area where you have been seeking security through control. Surrender that concern to God in prayer and consider one practical way to demonstrate your trust today.

Today's Refrain: My circumstances may change, but my dwelling place remains the Everlasting God.

Tomorrow, Psalms 92 and 93 invite us to consider the beauty of a life rooted in God's righteousness and established under His reign.
