The God Who Daily Bears Us Up: You Were Never Meant to Carry Today Alone

Psalm 68:19–35
Anchor Scripture:
“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.” — Psalm 68:19
There is one small word in this verse that can change the way we approach dependence:
Daily.
David doesn't merely praise the God who rescued him once.
He praises the God who daily bears us up.
Every day has its own weight.
Responsibilities.
Decisions.
Relationships.
Expectations.
Disappointments.
Questions.
And sometimes yesterday's burdens quietly join today's until we're carrying things God never asked us to accumulate.
But David describes dependence as something renewed daily.
Today's strength for today's burden.
Today's grace for today's assignment.
Today's dependence upon today's God—who is the same faithful God He was yesterday.
Psalm 68 continues celebrating God's power and victory. But before David speaks about kingdoms and strength and God's awesome majesty, he pauses to acknowledge something personal:
God carries His people.
Maybe that's difficult for some of us because we're accustomed to being the one who carries everyone else.
You solve.
You organize.
You encourage.
You remember.
You make sure everyone is okay.
And somewhere along the way, being dependable can quietly turn into believing that everything depends upon you.
It doesn't.
You can faithfully carry your responsibilities without pretending you are responsible for holding the entire world together.
There is already Someone occupying that position.
And He hasn't resigned.
Today's Micro Surrender
I surrender today's weight instead of carrying it into tomorrow.
Before this day ends, name what feels heavy.
Not vaguely.
Name it.
Then ask:
“Lord, what part of this belongs to me, and what have I picked up that belongs to You?”
Do what obedience requires.
Then release what sovereignty requires.
Because the God who daily bears you up will still be God tomorrow.
Prayer
Father, thank You for carrying me every day. Give me wisdom to handle what You have entrusted to me and humility to release what belongs to You. I place today's weight into Your hands. In Jesus' name, amen.
