Scripture Reading: Psalm 85:1–13
Key Verse: “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” — Psalm 85:6 (ESV)
Remembering Mercy While Waiting for Restoration
Have you ever looked back at what God has done and wondered when you would experience His restoring work again?
Psalm 85 begins with remembrance. The sons of Korah recall God's favor, forgiveness, and restoration of His people. Yet their present circumstances lead them to cry out for renewed mercy.
Their past testimony doesn't erase their present need.
And isn't that where many of us find ourselves?
We remember answered prayers and seasons of breakthrough, yet still face situations that seem painfully unfinished.
But verse 8 introduces an important response: the psalmist determines to listen to what God will speak, recognizing His promise of peace and His warning against returning to folly.
Restoration isn't simply about recovering what was lost. It also involves responding faithfully to the God who restores.
El Olam remains merciful and righteous through every season. His faithfulness is not measured by how quickly our circumstances improve.
We can remember His goodness, ask for renewed mercy, and remain attentive to His instruction.
Today's Refrain
The God who showed mercy yesterday is worthy of my trust today.
A Prayer for Today
Everlasting Father, thank You for the mercy You have already shown me. Where restoration is needed, help me wait with humility and listen carefully to Your instruction. Keep me from returning to patterns that draw my heart away from You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today's Challenge
Recall one season when God demonstrated His mercy in your life. Thank Him specifically for it.
Then consider: What instruction from God do I need to obey while waiting for restoration?
