Pour It Out Before the Lord

by Torrie Slaughter

Psalm 105:37–45

There comes a moment in every believer’s life when strength runs out and polished isn't reflecting honesty. So, you stop suppressing your emotions and simply cry out.

That is often where real relationship begins.

Psalm 105 reminds us of how God brought Israel out of Egypt: “He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes” (verse 37). This is not just a story of deliverance—it is evidence of the Shepherd’s care.

God did not rescue them halfway. He did not bring them out only to leave them weak and wandering. He provided protection, provision, guidance, and inheritance.

That is what shepherds do.

Jehovah Raah—the Lord our Shepherd—does not merely rescue; He leads. He brought them out with substance. He covered them with a cloud. He fed them with manna. He opened the rock for water. Every step was intentional.

This connects beautifully with Hannah in 1 Samuel 1.

Hannah did not have the strength to pretend anymore. She poured her soul out before the Lord. She was misunderstood by people, but fully seen by God.

Sometimes people misread your pain because they only see your tears, not your prayer.

But the Shepherd knows the difference.

The man at Bethesda in John 5 had been waiting for years for movement in the water, yet healing was standing in front of him. Sometimes we are so focused on the method we expect that we miss the God who is already present.

Psalm 105 reminds us that God fulfills promises not because we perform perfectly, but because He is faithful to His covenant.

Verse 42 says, “For he remembered his holy promise.”

He remembered.

That should encourage every weary heart.

God has not forgotten what He spoke over your life. Delays are not deletions. Silence is not abandonment.

Sometimes the greatest act of faith is simply bringing your full, unedited heart before God and trusting Him there.

Hannah teaches us that surrender is powerful.
Israel teaches us that deliverance is possible.
Jesus teaches us that healing can happen in unexpected ways.

So stop holding it together if holding it together is keeping you from healing.

Pour it out.

The Shepherd is listening.

Prayer Point

Father, I bring my full heart before You today. Every burden, every disappointment, every silent frustration—I place it in Your hands. As Jehovah Raah, lead me beyond performance and into true surrender. Help me trust that You remember every promise and that Your timing is perfect. Teach me to seek Your presence more than my preferred method of rescue. In Jesus’ name, amen.
