When God Is Silent but Still Watching

by Torrie Slaughter

Some wounds hurt more because they were formed while you were doing the right thing.

Psalm 17 is not loud. It doesn’t rush. It’s a prayer whispered by someone who has already examined their heart and still feels misunderstood. David isn’t asking God to fix everything. He’s asking God to see him.

“Listen to my righteous plea,” he says. Not because he’s perfect—but because he’s been honest.

This Psalm invites us to slow down and pray without performance. Read it once. Then read it again—but this time, pause after every request. Let the silence linger. Healing often begins not when God speaks, but when we realize He’s been watching all along.

Proverbs reminds us that God’s favor rests on the humble, not the hurried. You don’t need to prove your pain. Jehovah Rophe already knows where it started.

Prayer Pause:
“Lord, examine my heart—not to expose me, but to heal me.”

Healing Step:
Sit with Psalm 17 for five uninterrupted minutes. No music. No journaling. Just presence.
