Rise to Reign
by Torrie Slaughter
🎶 Praise Is Your Launchpad
Beloved, Psalm 9 doesn’t begin with complaint—it begins with confession of God’s greatness.
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” —Psalm 9:1 (NIV)
David teaches us that praise isn’t passive—it’s a position. When you’re rooted in praise, you rise in perspective. Gratitude shifts the atmosphere. It’s how we train our hearts to see God’s hand even in the chaos.
This is the power of strategic placement: when you worship in the wilderness, the wilderness starts to lose its grip on you.
⚖️ Rooted in a Just Kingdom
“The Lord sits enthroned forever; He has established His throne for judgment.” —Psalm 9:7
Don’t miss this: God is still seated. He’s not pacing. He’s not panicked. He rules with righteousness, and He judges with equity. When injustice screams loudly, we rest in the quiet confidence that He sees it all.
Being rooted means we don’t chase revenge—we trust God's timing. That’s how we rise without resentment.
🛡️ The Refuge That Raises Us
“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” —Psalm 9:9
Your roots deepen in adversity. Not because you enjoy the hardship—but because in it, you discover the unshakable shelter of God.
God doesn't just remove the storm—He protects you inside it. And it’s in that covering that your faith is fortified.
You weren’t planted to perish. You were planted to be preserved—so you could rise.
🚨 A Cry for Justice, A Call to Courage
“Arise, Lord… Let the nations know they are only mortal.” —Psalm 9:19–20
David ends with bold intercession. He isn’t afraid to ask God to act—and neither should we.
When you're rooted in righteousness, you don't shrink back—you speak up.
God’s justice is not delayed—it’s deliberate. And while we wait, we praise, we pray, and we press forward with the confidence that God is still King.
💬 Reflection Question:
What area of your life needs to shift from worry to worship, from panic to praise?
🙏🏾 Prayer
Righteous King,
We exalt You today—not because everything is easy, but because You are still on the throne. Thank You for being our stronghold in every storm, our refuge in every trial, and our righteous judge when the world feels unfair.
Root us in praise. Anchor us in trust. And raise us in purpose to live boldly, serve faithfully, and shine brightly for Your glory.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
