“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed” (v.3). Psalm 82 pulls no punches—God calls rulers to account for injustice, warning that ignoring the vulnerable shakes the very foundations of society.

But this isn’t just for kings and judges. Each of us has influence, and God asks us to reflect His heart for justice wherever we are—home, work, church, or community. Injustice thrives when God’s people stay silent.

The psalm ends with hope: “Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance” (v.8). Human leaders may fail, but God never will. His justice will prevail.

So today, let’s live as His witnesses—lifting the weak, speaking truth, and practicing righteousness in everyday choices. Endurance in truth means partnering with God’s justice now, while trusting that He will one day set all things right.
