Reading: Psalm 83
There’s a certain exhaustion that comes from spiritual battles that never seem to end. Psalm 83 opens with that raw ache:
“O God, do not keep silent; do not hold Your peace.”
It’s the prayer of the weary—those who’ve run out of strategies but not out of faith. The psalmist feels surrounded, outnumbered, and unheard. Maybe you do too. The pressure is real, and it’s tempting to think God’s silence means His absence.
But notice what the psalmist does not do—he doesn’t give up. Instead, he reminds God of past victories, calling on the One who has already proven Himself faithful. This is not a desperate plea born of panic; it’s a declaration that says, “You’ve done it before, and I believe You’ll do it again.”
When you’re tired but still trusting, prayer becomes less about escape and more about endurance. The psalmist doesn’t just ask God to remove the problem—he asks God to reveal His glory through it. What if our hardest moments are the very places God plans to display His strength?
Reflection:
The silence of God is not the absence of power. It’s often the prelude to wonder.
Prayer:
Lord, when the noise of life grows loud and You seem quiet, remind me that You are still moving. Turn my exhaustion into expectation. Let my faith rise from the ashes of fear, and show Your glory through every battle I face. Amen.
