God’s Justice Will Prevail

Introduction: Waiting on God's Justice

Have you ever cried out, “God, how long will this go on?”

  • Maybe you've suffered injustice and it feels like no one sees.

  • Maybe you've been falsely accused and God seems silent.

  • Maybe you're wondering why the wicked seem to win while the righteous suffer.

David felt this way, too. In Psalm 35:17-28, he pours out his heart, asking God to intervene, bring justice, and restore his honor.

🚨 If you've ever felt like God is taking too long to act, this passage is for you.

Psalm 35:17-18 — The Cry for Deliverance

📖 "How long, Lord, will you look on? Rescue me from their ravages, my precious life from these lions. I will give you thanks in the great assembly; among the throngs I will praise you."

David’s words are raw. He’s desperate for God to move.

  • He feels like God is just watching while his enemies attack.

  • He compares his enemies to lions—ruthless, relentless, and ready to devour.

  • Yet, even in his suffering, David makes a commitment: When God delivers me, I will publicly praise Him.

💡 Lesson:
Even while waiting on God’s justice, we must prepare to praise Him.

📖 "Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him."Job 13:15

🚀 Your worship should not depend on whether the battle is over—it should be an act of faith that victory is coming.

Psalm 35:19-21 — The Pain of False Accusations

📖 "Do not let those gloat over me who are my enemies without cause; do not let those who hate me without reason maliciously wink the eye. They do not speak peace, but devise false accusations against those who live quietly in the land. They sneer at me and say, 'Aha! Aha! With our own eyes we have seen it!'"

💔 David wasn’t just being attacked physically—he was being slandered.

  • His enemies were gloating, thinking they had won.

  • They were twisting the truth, spreading lies to damage his reputation.

  • They were mocking him, acting as if they had evidence of wrongdoing.

🚨 Sound familiar?

🔥 Jesus endured the same thing.

📖 "The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death."Matthew 26:59

💡 Lesson:
False accusations may hurt, but they cannot stop God’s plan.

  • Even when people lie about you, God knows the truth.

  • Even when you are mocked, God is still your defender.

Psalm 35:22-25 — The Plea for Justice

📖 "Lord, you have seen this; do not be silent. Do not be far from me, Lord. Awake, and rise to my defense! Contend for me, my God and Lord. Vindicate me in your righteousness, Lord my God; do not let them gloat over me. Do not let them think, 'Aha, just what we wanted!' or say, 'We have swallowed him up.'"

David boldly calls on God to act:

1️⃣ “Do not be silent.”

  • Have you ever felt like God was quiet when you needed Him the most?

  • David reminds us that God sees everything—even the injustice we face.

2️⃣ “Rise to my defense!”

  • David wasn’t seeking revenge.

  • He wanted God to step in and fight for him.

3️⃣ “Vindicate me.”

  • Vindication isn’t just about clearing your name—it’s about restoring honor.

  • David wanted God to make it clear that he had been faithful.

💡 Lesson:
God’s justice isn’t just about punishing the wicked—it’s about restoring the righteous.

📖 "He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun."Psalm 37:6

🚀 God’s timing may not match ours, but His justice is always perfect.

Psalm 35:26-28 — The Ultimate Victory Belongs to God

📖 "May all who gloat over my distress be put to shame and confusion; may all who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and disgrace. May those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and gladness; may they always say, 'The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant.' My tongue will proclaim your righteousness, your praises all day long."

🔥 David ends with a declaration of victory.

  • The wicked will be exposed.

  • The faithful will rejoice.

  • God will be glorified.

🚀 This is how the story ends for all who trust in the Lord.

📖 Romans 8:31"If God is for us, who can be against us?"

💡 Lesson:
Even if justice feels delayed, know that God is already writing the final chapter.
