🌿 Sunday, March 29 — Psalm 70:1–5

A Prayer That Won’t Wait

Psalm 70 is brief, but it carries urgency. This is not a long reflection—it is a direct and immediate cry for God’s help.

“Make haste, O God, to deliver me! O LORD, make haste to help me!” (Psalm 70:1, ESV)

There are moments when we don’t have many words. We don’t have polished prayers or extended thoughts. We simply need God to move.

Scripture makes room for that kind of prayer.

“Let all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you! May those who love your salvation say evermore, ‘God is great!’” (Psalm 70:4, ESV)

Even within urgency, there is a call to remember who God is. The tension of this psalm is powerful—it holds both desperation and declaration at the same time.

“But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay!” (Psalm 70:5, ESV)

The psalmist acknowledges his need without hesitation. There is no attempt to appear strong or self-sufficient. Instead, there is clarity: God is the source of help, and He alone can deliver.

This psalm reminds us that dependence on God is not weakness—it is wisdom.

As you sit with Psalm 70 today, let it encourage you to come to God exactly as you are. Whether your prayer is long or short, quiet or urgent, He hears you.

And He is near.
